The porous material becomes evenly soaked with water and traps large and small dirt particles. After a short start-up period purification bacteria, which provide intensive biological decomposition of harmful substances, colonise the specially structured foam.

The fine and coarse filter pads are reusable many times over. To clean them simply rinse and squeeze out, so that the bacteria cultures are not completely destroyed.

The spiral shape ensures the trapping of even small dirt particles. The high quality, completely water-neutral plastic allows easy and residue free cleaning. Yet the surface structure allows the colonisation of cleaning bacteria and therefore also provides a biological cleaning process.

Optimised bio-filter medium with perfect volume usage, long intervals between cleaning and top decomposition performance.

SUBSTRATpro consists of pearl-shaped sintered glass. The spherical shape gives a high bulk density. Thus the whole of the volume in the filter (filter baskets or modules) can be utilised. Also the optimum surface of the beads provides intensive colonisation of the important purification bacteria.

Due to the high number of bacteria, peak nitrite loads are more easily reduced and the maintenance intervals of the filter material are longer.

bioMECH has been cleverly designed: dirt-trapping pockets capture and retain large and small dirt particles. At the same time the subtely designed pore structure provides colonisation for the purification bacteria and thus ensures reliable biological decomposition.

Aquarium Kingdom Tips

When cleaning your filter always use water from the aquarium, not tap water. Never clean or change all the filter media together in one operation (and never clean too rigorously). The bacteria cultures must not be completely destroyed, otherwise re-colonisation will be disrupted.
